VECELLIO, Cesare
İtalyan asıllı ressam ve gravürcü Cesare Vecellio (yaklaşık 1530-1601) Veneto yöresinde doğup Venedik'te ölür. Tiziano'nun kuzeniydi. 1548 yılında Tiziano Augsburg'a giderken Vecellio ona eşlik eder ve büyük bir olasılıkla yanında yardımcı olarak çalışır. Vecellio'nun birçok yapıtı kendi bilgisi dahilinde Rönesans'ın büyük İtalyan ressamına isnat edilir. Milano Sanat Galerisinde Vecellio'nun Kutsal Üçlüğü (Ayia Triada) gösteren küçük bir yapıtı bulunmaktadır. Vecellio ayrıca Corona delle nobili e donne virtuose (1591) başlıklı kraliçe taçlarındaki mücevherleri sergileyen bir yapıt yayınlamıştır.
İlk yayından sonra 1598 yılında yeni bilgiler eklenerek yeniden basılan ve yazarını ünlü yapan bu yapıttaki tahta gravürler büyük bir olasılıkla Nürenberg'li Christopher Krieger'e aittir. Bu gravürler özellikle Avrupa ancak Asya ve Afrika'dan da erkek ve kadınlara ait 600'e yakın kâh fantezi kâh düş ürünü kıyafet görüntülemektedir. Açıklayıcı metinler eşliğinde olan gravürler 17. yüzyıl ortalarında yeniden yayınlanır, burada sözkonusu olan baskı ise en sonuncusudur. Kendisi hiç bir zaman seyahat etmemiş olan Vecellio'nun çizdiği birçok insan tipi daha önce N. de Nicolay ve Pierre de Coeck'un yapmış olduğu desenlerden etkilenmiştir.
